Solution for 13 Hard to Get Metroid Dread Items

Are you enjoying your playthrough and want to collect 100% of the Metroid Dread items or power-ups, but some are simply too hard to get?

Generally speaking, these items are pretty straightforward to pick up, provided that you find them on your map, but others are more of a puzzle as to figuring out how to nab these missiles, energy tanks, and/or power bombs powerups.

For these, you may need to be more towards the endgame, having all the upgrades, and may require several attempts before succeeding, as it is more a question of timing and agility for both you and Samus.

Hopefully, these instructions will help you acquire those “dreaded” Metroid Dread items with a bit more ease.

Here is how to pick them up, listed by location in alphabetical order :

Power-Ups in : Artaria

Energy Tank

In order to get this powerup, you will need the speed booster, as well as the bomb upgrade.

You will want to start off from the room to the right giving you room to get momentum running and getting into shinespark mode right before the narrow crawlway that you will need to bomb to get through.

While still under shinespark, quickly make your way to the left flash shifting in mid-air across that weight-sensitive sensor platform to then unleash the power and blast your way through the blocks above.

All you need is to grab your prize and move on to the next one.

Missile Tank

Another one of these Metroid Dread items that may seem like a puzzler to get your hands on is this Missile Tank in Artaria.

You will need the speed booster upgrade to get this one.

You start in the room to the right which is right across the Missile Tank, but you would like to start from the left area of that room, running through the long corridor holding the L analog stick on to trigger the shinespark.

Upon reaching the other side there will be a breakable block that you will want to Morph Ball into and launch yourself leftward all the way through the large room and up the slope breaking the blocks that were blocking to reach the Missile Tank item.

Power-Ups in : Burenia

Missile+ Tank

This one is a pain to get as there are so many things that could go wrong throughout and you will have to start all over each time.

You will need to have to Speed Booster and Screw Attack upgrades and start at the location shown on the map.

You will need to start at the edge on the right of the top floor of that room. You will start to run toward the next room on the left pressing down right before dropping down and reaching Shinespark.

From there, quickly make your way through the next room sliding your way past the wall, then you want to Screw Attack through the breakable Beam blocks on the way down.

NOTE: It is important to Screw Attack your way down as you will not be able to release to Shinespark and go up the slope. Tried it several times, never worked for me.

Past the blocks and before reaching the bottom, you will want to press the Left stick along with the Y and B buttons to unleash the Shinespark in midair up the slope.

You will want to press Down as soon as you reach the top going back in Shinespark mode.

Slide through the wall and drop down while doing a Screw Attack, this time hitting the Right stick with Y + B to go up another slope and pressing Down at the top.

Dropdown next to the wall and release the Shinespark to break through, then make your way to the prize.

Congratulations, you just picked up the hardest Metroid Dread items in the game.

Power Bomb Tank

Grabbing this item isn’t as simple as rolling through or using a Cross Bomb to push your way to it.

In order to get it, you will need to ultimately Shinespark in Morph Ball form and launch yourself through the pitfall blocks.

To get started, go to the Save Room close by and gain your momentum just across the elevated floor of the next room and get into Shinespark.

In the other room, you will need to quickly slide and make your way to the Power Bomb Tank’s level and rollout high-speed style.

Missile Tank

This next item can be a bit hard to get, as you will need to Shinespark two times during this maneuver.

You will start at the Dairon transit station at the top of the Cataris map.

Run through and make your way to the wall in the next room. As you run, you can either blast your way before reaching the end and sliding underneath going Shinespark afterward or Shinespark before reaching the wall and bomb through.

Launch yourself across the room then press Down to go back into Shinespark.

Make your way to the location then break through the ceiling to get that Missile Tank.

It is the only way to do so, as you would run out of time without going twice into Shinespark.

Power-Ups in : Dairon

Energy Part

To reach this next item power-up, located in the North-East corner of the Dairon map, you will start at the Ghavoran elevator. But first, you must acquire the Space Jump or Screw Attack upgrade and you will need the Gravity Suit, although it can be done without.

It can get a bit tricky, but you will need to run and get your Shinespark on, crawl past the wall of the next room open the door on the right and let her fly.

Press Down as soon as you enter the next room to get back into Shinespark.

Passthrough the wall and Spin Jump or Screw Attack yourself upwards then break through that Speed Booster block wall and that’s it, blast open the door and get that Energy Part.

Missile Tank

For this, you will need the Cross Bomb upgrade.

You simply need to blast that first block with your Bombs then quickly blast the next blocks with your Missiles.

After doing so, Morph Ball your way though then quickly use a Cross Bomb to blast yourself through those pitfall blocks in order to reach that Missile Tank before those blocks respawn.

Power-Ups in : Elun

Missile Tank

To get that Missile Tank, you must go through a Speed Booster block ceiling and there is not a lot of room to get into Shinespark.

Luckily for you, there is a fan right above the location of that tank.

Running against the wind is all you need to go into Shinespark then make your way down, sliding through the walls to then go through that ceiling and grab that powerup.

Energy Part #1

To get to that Energy Part we will start at the first Dairon elevator room at the lower left of the map.

Run across that room sliding underneath the wall at the end then jump and run up the slope without losing momentum.

At the top quickly press Down to go into Shinespark.

Energy Part #2

This one can be another one of those Metroid Dread items that can be hard to obtain.

You basically Screw Attack yourself up then release a Cross Bomb on your way back down, making sure it is released at those blocks level to destroy them on each side.

Quickly make your way back up then use your Grapple Beam to destroy the block all the way to the right.

It may seem simple but may take a few tries to succeed.

Missile+ Tank

This Missile Plus Tank can be hard to get as you will need speed and proper execution.

We start running at the Ghavoran transit station jumping across the gap and reaching the next level then having to bounce off the wall to then need to slide through the crawlway all the way across in one simple run, turning into Shinespark at the end of it.

You will then backtrack midway and Bomb the blocks leading up to then go through the block at the top using your Shinespark.

This one was a pain to get, but worth it to get those 10 extra Missiles or if you are simply wanting that 100% item grabbing milestone.

Power-Ups in : Ghavoran

Missile Tank

This one is not as simple as it seems.

You start in the room above it on the top part of it. Running leftward you get into Shinespark mode at the end of the road.

You will then make your way to the bottom and into the next room.

Screenshot of Map of Missile Tank in Ghavoran

You want to stand in between those two glowing plants at the bottom then launch yourself diagonally to the top left.

Trying to launch yourself horizontally simply did not work.

Power-Ups in : Hanubia

Power Bomb Tank

Finding this Power Bomb item is more a question of timing as you will need to get into Shinespark while having a limited distance to work with.

You will need to start in the room to the right then run left trying to get into Shinespark with the little room you have.

Once accomplished you bomb those Bomb blocks on the floor then go full throttle downwards to break those pesky Speed Booster blocks revealing your prize, a Power Bomb Tank.
